Arunn's Notebook

Welcome Reader!

I am a faculty member at the IIT Madras, India.

I do research in heat and fluid flow through porous media and biological systems. Here is a list of my current research publications and its topic-wise segregation. Read the short resume for further professional details. Here are my profiles at GoogleScholar and ResearcherID.

Beyond the academic publishing outlets, I have been writing on the internet since when I had long hair, short temper, less topics, lesser zeal and big ego. The Notes and Writings pages are a good way to explore segregated site content.

Rest of the passing thoughts are archived quarterly, in the uNruled nOtebOOk...

Check What's New for recent changes/additions to the site.

I also write elaborately in Tamil, mostly on Science and Carnatic Music.

The scientist does not study nature because it is useful to do so. He studies it because he takes pleasure in it, and he takes pleasure in it because it is beautiful. If nature were not beautiful it would not be worth knowing, and life would not be worth living. I am not speaking, of course, of the beauty which strikes the senses, of the beauty of qualities and appearances. I am far from despising this, but it has nothing to do with science. What I mean is that more intimate beauty which comes from the harmonious order of its parts, and which a pure intelligence can grasp.
