  • You can use your ldap id to login to home.iitm.ac.in through secure ftp using port 21 or 22.
  • Most of the ftp client are supported. we have tested with filezilla, lftp, sftp & gftp
  • Terminal based users, please set "ssl:verify-certificate no". i.e. lftp ftp://$(FTP_USER)@$(FTP_HOST) -e "set ftp:ssl-allow no; mirror -R $(OUTPUTDIR) $(FTP_TARGET_DIR) ; quit"
  • Upload the Webpage with all companents in your home directory. Ready to Go.

Steps for Windows

Method #1:
step 1. Click on Start button or Windows key and then click on "Computer".
step 2. Click on "Map network drive" from the menu.
step 3. "Map Network Drive" window will open. Now click on the link "Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures."
step 4. Now simply follow the step by step wizard to add a new network location. Select "Choose a custom network location" when given the choice of where to create this network connection.
step 5. Type your ftp address e.g. ftp://home.iitm.ac.in. Specify your LDAP username and password.
step 6. Give your newly created network location.
step 7. Copy all the contents of webfolder to the remote folder.

Method #2:(In Windows 7)
step 1: Click on Start button and type ftp://home.iitm.ac.in in the search box.
step 2: Click Enter, A Dialog box will appear asking for username and password.
step 3: Provide with your LDAP credentials and your folder will be opened.
step 4. Copy all the contents of webfolder to the remote folder.

Method #3:
step 1. Download Filezilla from the Following links, http://filezilla-project.org/download.php
step 2. After installation open File zilla.
step 3. Type your hostname(e.g., home.iitm.ac.in),and your LDAP username and password. No port number required.
step 4. Click on quick connect.
step 5. Copy all the contents of webfolder to the remote folder.

Steps for LINUX

Method #1:
step 1: Open Computer or file browser
step 2: click File and "select Connect to Server".
step 3: Give Server type as FTP(with Login).
step 4: Type Server as home.iitm.ac.in and LDAP Username and click on connect.
step 5: It will ask for a password. Provide your LDAP password and click on connect.
step 6: The directory will be opened.
step 7. Copy all the contents of webfolder to the remote folder.

Method #2:
step 1. Download Filezilla from the Following links, http://filezilla-project.org/download.php
step 2. After installation open File zilla.
step 3. Type your hostname(e.g., home.iitm.ac.in),and your LDAP username and password. No port number required
step 4. Click on quick connect.
step 5. Copy all the contents of webfolder to the remote folder.

Steps for MAC OS

Method #1:
step 1: From your Mac desktop hit Command+K to pull up the "Connect to Server" window (alternatively, you can access this from the "Go" menu)
step 2: Enter the address of the ftp server in the following format: ftp://home.iitm.ac.in.
step 3: If you want to add a bookmark to 'Favorite Servers' for repeated connections, click on the + icon next to the "Server Address" field
step 4: Click on "Connect" and wait to connect to the remote server.
step 5: Enter the LDAP username and password, and click on "Connect" again.
step 6. Copy all the contents of webfolder to the remote folder.

Method #2:
