It is a slim and agile glossy black bird with a long, deeply forked tail. Both the sexes are alike. It can be seen singly on the open country side and in cultivated areas. It feeds on insects, flower nectar and also occasionally on small birds. Its nesting season is from April to August. Its nest is a flimsy bottomed cup of fine twigs and fibres cemented with cobweb, usually found at the forked extremities of branches at a height of 4-10m in large trees, standing alone in the open.
