One of commonest butterflies in India, it is found both in plains and hills except the deserts and higher altitudes. It is a slow flier and flutters its wings majestically in the wooded places and hedges. While alighting on a flower, it flutters its wings vigorously and while sipping, nectar it keeps the wings spread motionless. It is fond of flowers of Pink Cock's Comb, Lantana, Heliotrope, Sunnhemp, etc.
