It is a common butterfly in the hills of South India, found upto 2700 m. It is active throughout the year, but is common at low elevations during wet weather, frequently appearing in vast swarms. In the Himalayas, it occurs below 2700 m. It is a slow flier and a common migrant, especially in South India. It visits the flowers of Fabaceae.
