It has a grey neck and smaller size to distinguish itself from the odd black jungle crow. The sexes are alike. It is perhaps the most familiar bird of Indian towns and villages. It lives in close association with man and obtains its livelihood from his works. It eats almost anything. It is a useful scavenger but also a great bully and therefore a serious menace to defense-less ornamental birds. It nesting occurs from April to June. Its nest is made up of a platform of twigs frequently intermeshed with iron wire with a cup like depression.
