- Additive Manufacturing : A combined experimental and computational study of the AM process dependent residual stresses and microstructure evolution in high strength aerospace materials. The project involves performing experimental charaterisation of the residual stresses, location dependent microstructures and mechanical properties along side finite simulations of the additive manufacturing process to optimize the process specific parameters.
- Fracture Mechanics : Understanding the role of microstructural heterogeneity in the crack propagation in ductile materials using finite element simulations coupled with crystal plasticity and phase field approaches.
