Welcome to my homepage! Here you will find glimpses of my academic journey to understand the nature of things. I have been studying the exotic properties of graphene and two-dimensional systems spanning diverse topics in condensed matter physics including electronic, thermal and mechanical properties. Among the research problems I have studied at IIT Madras include the snap-through instability of atom-thin membranes over corrugated surfaces, the electromechanics of 2D systems, the ability to engineer in graphene both ultralow as well as ultrahigh thermal conductivities, and last but not the least, the physics of water and ions under confinement. Over the past decade, I have also taught a broad spectrum of theory courses at IIT Madras – to list them as complementing pairs: ‘classical’ and ‘quantum’ physics; ‘mathematical’ physics and ‘experimental’ physics, ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ condensed matter physics.
