Area of Research

4D printing of Soft Materials

About me

My research work focuses on 3D/4D printing of stimuli-responsive polymers. The objective is to study the printability of smart polymers and print multi-material polymers through different 3D printing techniques for soft robotic applications.

Out of my research box, I am passionate about Indian classical music and love singing.I like to spend my leisure time making decorative artwork and playing badminton.

Molecular Mechanics of Polymer

About me

I have prior experience in the design of robotic structures from my undergrad and also have closely observed a composite industry. I am keen on research in mechanical modeling and simulations of some uncommon and unexplored molecular structures, as well as determining their mechanical properties, in order to find their potential applications.

Area of Research

Design & Fabrication of 3D Printers

About me

I am currently focussed on development of customised 3D printers for different experiments by exploring the possibilities of additive manufacturing technology. I am also involved in design and development of some machines by giving some degrees of automation for different experiments in the lab. My fields of interest are embedded systems, electronics, machine design, robotics, etc.

My hobbies are reading books, listening to music, visiting places of cultural and historical importance and being with family and friends

Sanghamitra Debta
Program : Ph.D
Area of Research
  • Study of Mechanics of polymer and polymer thin films.
  • Nano-mechanical characterisation of hydrophilic polymers under static and dynamic condition.
  • Development of Finite Element model to capture the behaviour of hydrophilic polymer subject to different temperature range.

Outside of work I like engaging myself in artwork and reading. I also love to see new places and experience the beauty, history, food and people of different regions.

Ashwin K N
Program : Ph.D
Area of Research
  • Interfacial performance of Polymer coating on cement/concrete substrate during different stages of cement hydration.
  • Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are carried out to understand the mechanism at the interface between polymer coatings with models of C-S-H which represents different hydration phase of concrete.
  • By performing MD simulation, the interaction mechanism at molecular level will be clearly understood which will correlate the result from nano- to macro-scale techniques.
Hobbies and Interest
  • Playing Basketball, chess, cricket.
Nidhi Murali
Program : Ph.D

My research work is on developing an interface between clay and concrete incorporating polymer. It basically involves detailed experimental investigation on interfacial strength characterisation employing different techniques. Apart from research, I read blogs on - women empowerment, mental health for women etc. Loves to cook and a happy mom.
