Research area: Machinability and stress corrosion cracking of Super Duplex Stainless Steel
PhD scholar: Ongoing since July 2014
Brief about research work: I am working on improving the machinability and surface integrity of super duplex stainless steel (SDSS). The research work primarily focusses on analyzing the machining induced residual stress and their effect on stress corrosion cracking failure of SDSS. I am also working on numerical modelling to predict the residual stress generated on the surface.

Research area: Sinterability and machinability studies of Zirconium Diboride based Ultra High Temperature Ceramics (UHTC) and its UHTC matrix Composites.

Brief about research work: I am preparing dense Ultra High Temperature Ceramic (UHTC) and UHTC Matrix Composites (major application of these materials is in space re-entry vehicles for thermal protection) by Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) process and studying their machinability by carrying out surface grinding and EDM processes.
