Ilaksh Adlakha

Dr. Ilaksh Adlakha is an Associate Professor in the Applied Mechanics department at Indian Institute of Technology Madras. Ilaksh completed his PhD from Arizona State University (2015) with Prof. Solanki, where he focused on examining hydrogen embrittlement phenomenon in Fe using a multi scale perspective. During his post-doc, he worked on stress assisted corrosion and investigated the interplay between the various phenomena by combining experimental and modeling observations. He has co-authored 27 journal articles and > 25 international conference presentations. Furthermore, he has published in reputed international journals, such as Proceeding of Royal Society, Acta Materialia, Scripta Materialia, Corrosion Science and Nature: Scientific Report.

Postdoctoral Researchers

Geetisubhra Jena

Institute Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Geetisubhra joined the research group as Postdoctoral researcher in October 2021. She completed her PhD from Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam (2021) with Prof. John Philip, where she focused on developing various graphene oxide based composite coatings with improved corrosion resistance and antibacterial properties. She has co-authored 9 journal articles and attended 7 national and international conferences. Her research interests are surface modifications, corrosion resistant coatings development, surface characterizations, and electrochemical characteristic assessment.

R M Raghavendra

Institute Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Raghavendra joined the research group as Postdoctoral researcher in August 2023. He obtained his doctorate from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. His doctoral work was devoted to the understanding of interplay of stresses, interfaces and finite scale effects using finite element simulations. He has published 8 peer reviewed journals and has co-authored a book chapter. His postdoctoral work pertains to understanding the fundamental insights and underlying mechanisms in the field of industrially imposing hydrogen embrittlement problem using FEM.

Kona Veera Ganesh

Project Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Kona Veera Ganesh joined as Postdoctoral Researcher in February 2024. He finished his PhD from IIT Kharagpur in Structural Engineering specialization (2022) and he also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at IISc Bengalore (2023-24). He authored 5 peer reviewed journals & 4 conferences publications. His research interests are multiscale modeling of material damage due to liquid droplet impingement, residual stress and fatigue modeling in structural components.

C. Ramachandran

Co-guide: Prof. Lakshman Neelakantan

Ramachandran joined the PhD program in July 2018. Ramachandran pursued his ME in Structural Engineering from Anna University (2017). He worked on finite element analysis to study the changes in natural frequencies due to cracks in structures. Furthermore, he worked on probabilistic response of pre-cracked structure, due to random vibrations. He has authored 2 journal articles. His research interest are Experimental Solid Mechanics, Material Characterization and Electrochemistry.

Prabhat Karmakar

Co-guide: Prof. Sayan Gupta

Prabhat joined the Direct PhD program in July 2019. Prabhat pursued B.Tech Mechanical Engineering from NIT, Durgapur (2017). He is interested in working on Finite Element Analysis and Experimental Mechanics.

Pragyandipta Mishra

Prime Minister's Research Fellow

Pragyandipta joined the Direct PhD program in July 2019. He pursued B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru (2019). He is interested in computational research in Solid Mechanics and Materials Science. His primary research focus is studying the effects of microstructural features on the mechanical and electrochemical behavior of materials using Density Functional Theory and Molecular Dynamics. He has authored 1 journal article and attended 6 national and international conferences since joining the group.

Mahesh Arunprasath

Mahesh completed his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Design and Manufacturing from IIITDM Kancheepuram (2021). His research is targeted towards translating useful data from Molecular Dynamics (MD) at the atomistic scale to continuum scale plasticity framework.

Alakh Niranjan Kumar

Alakh joined the PhD program in July 2022. He pursued MTech in Material Engineering from VNIT, Nagpur (2022). He is interested in working on computational material science.

Deepak Chandra Murari

Deepak joined the PhD program in July 2023. He completed his M.Tech in Computer Integrated Manufacturing from NIT Warangal (2018). He worked as GATE faculty at T.I.M.E Pvt. Ltd (2018-2023). He is interested in working on Computational Solid Mechanics.

Rajasimman M

Rajasimman joined as MS scholar in July 2023. He pursued his B.Tech (Hons) from Puducherry Technological University formerly known as Pondicherry Engineering College, Puducherry (2022). He is interested towards research areas of Computational Solid Mechanics and Materials Science.

MTech Students

Shubham Shevale

Shubham joined the MTech program in July 2022 after completing his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik, in 2020. In the context of his ongoing MTech project, the primary focus involves constructing data-driven models for forecasting the behavior of polycrystalline materials under diverse conditions.
