Dr. Ranjit Bauri |
Dr. Ranjit Bauri is a Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. He received his Ph.D in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, in 2005.
Prior to joining IIT Madras in 2007, he worked as a Senior Test Engineer at Bloom Energy, where he gained valuable industrial experience in advanced hydrogen energy technologies. Since joining IIT Madras, he has served as Assistant Professor (2007-2012), Associate Professor (2012-2018), and has been a Professor since March 2018.
His research focuses on the development and processing of advanced materials for sustainable energy and structural applications. His current areas of interest include Solid oxide fuel cells, Energy materials, Zinc-air and Zinc-ion batteries, Friction stir welding and processing, Aluminium- and Titanium-based metal matrix composites, and Circular economy approaches for Sustainable materials engineering. His research integrates fundamental materials science with engineering solutions aimed at addressing challenges in clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and sustainability.
Through his research and collaborations with academia and industry, he seeks to advance next-generation materials and technologies that contribute to energy security, resource efficiency, and environmentally sustainable development.
