The adult butterfly mimics the Common Rose, but it is a black-bodied butterfly with a prominent tail. Upperside of the forewing has a broad oblique white band and a white patch beyond the apex of the cell. Hind wing has two to six elongate white spots in the disc and one in the apex of the cell,. Underside is similar to the upperside. Hind wing has a complete series of outer marginal spots with the anterior ones white.
